Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's (Philosopher's) Stone
Based on the popular books by J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is a wizard, and doesn't know it. He lives with his relatives the Dursley's (Fiona Shaw, Richard Griffiths, Harry Melling), because Harry's parents were killed by Voldemort (Richard Bremmer). The Dursley's treat Harry badly, because he is not of their type. Harry starts getting letters from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Vernon (Richard Griffiths) tries to keep Harry from getting the letters, and even moves to a remote island. Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) takes Harry from the Dursley's and helps him gather all he needs for Hogwarts. Hagrid and Harry stop at Gringott's Bank to pick up some money for Harry, and Hagrid gets a package out which has to be their secret. On the Hogwarts Express train Harry meets Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). Once at Hogwarts, the students are sorted into their houses. The four houses are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Harry, Ron, and Hermione all get into Gryffindor. All the houses compete in Quidditch, and earn points to win the House Cup. Professor Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) is the professor of potions, and head of Slytherin. He hates Harry, and all his other students, but favors Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton). Professor Snape also wants Professor Quirrell's (Ian Hart) job of teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts. Snape makes Harry's life at Hogwarts hard. Harry later finds out about the Sorcerer's Stone, and that someone is trying to steal it. Anyone who has the stone will have great powers and be immortal. Harry thinks that because of Professor Snape's suspicious behaviour, that he is trying to steal the stone.
